Setting up your website template:

Step 1:

Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or a plain text editor and edit "Your Website Title" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=" code. Edit the text following "&slogan=" with your website slogan or leave this blank. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

FLASH HEADER ICON: In the "picts" folder you can replace the "flash-icon.jpg" with any 150 wide x 75 pixel high .jpg image. Do not save this .jpg as a progressive image. You can optionally go wider with this image. If you do not want to use the Flash icon you can rename the "BLANK-flash-icon.jpg" in the picts folder to "flash-icon.jpg".

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details
The best way to setup the pictures in the gallery is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are in there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the "Fgallery?-?.jpg" pictures with full size photos. Replace the "gallery?-?.jpg" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 130 x 87 pixels and the "Fgallery" images are 500 x 333. You can make them any size that you prefer. There is info for adding more images to each gallery pages later in this document.

Galleries 1-3 include 9 images on each page. Gallery 4 includes 4 images total. You can duplicate any gallery page to add more pages. See options below for details.

IMAGE VIEWER OPTIONS: | Click for more details
You can change some options for the gallery image viewer page (image-viewer.htm) by editing the pop-closeup.js in Notepad. Options include new browser window, or popup for the viewer.

Step 6:
This template includes a Paypal payment page called "custom.htm". Edit the "" in this page with your Paypal e-mail and you can use this page to accept custom payments by sending clients a link to this page and having them fill in the amount on the payment page.

  3. In each "gallery?.htm" page replace the info for each form with your Paypal form info. In each form edit the business e-mail, the item name and the item price. For a quick edit, you can open a gallery page in notepad and search and replace "" with your paypal e-mail. There is a thank you page included. In each form edit the "return" URL with your web domain URL so the return page will display after a payment is completed. Click for form setup details.

  4. In each form edit the shipping price (set at 2.99 now). Click for more shipping options.

  5. Edit the options area with your item options, or remove the code for the option in each form. See the "OPTIONS" notes in the "gallery?.htm". Delete the code just after the "OPTIONS AREA" note if you do not need an option for your item.

  6. Options were not included in the "gallery1.htm". You can copy options from other gallery pages if you need options in the first gallery page.
Step 8:
EDIT SIDEBAR: | Click for more details
Open the "sidebar.js" file in Notepad or any text editor, and edit the text and links with your own text. You will also find some options you can change at the top of this file. Editing the sidebar.js will update the right side of all the template pages at one time. Editing example: In the sidebar.js find the "1ST NOTES AREA" and edit the "Notes Area" line with your sidebar title text. Edit the "You can edit this area..." text with your own text. Try this update and check the about.htm to see this updated.

Step 10:
Open each of the pages and change the titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords to match your product or service. You can edit one page and copy and paste to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the "" so you don't disturb the html code. Page titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google or MSN and other search engines.

Step 11:

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENUS: | Click for more details
There are a total of 4 menu type files in this template that you can add and remove links in.
1. menu.js (top menu)
2. menu_gallery.js (second top menu and drop select menu)
2. sidebar.js (left side with small images and links)
3. footer.js (footer links)

You can change the names of the links like "about" or "gallery" to other page names by editing the "menu.js". Only change the one instance of the name and not the name with the ".htm" after it unless you rename the .htm pages. Whatever you change in the menu.js or any .js file will change every page on the website. You can add more page links by copying one link in the menu.js or footer.js and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your files before you edit them. There are notes in each "menu" .js files to add another link.

DROP SELECT MENU (menu_gallery.js): | Click for more details
The drop select menu on the right header side can be edited in the "menu_gallery.js". This menu can be turned off with a "no" in the variables at the top of the "menu_gallery.js". The left side menu buttons can also be switched off and you can have just the drop select menu under your header area. Click here for variable editing help.

ADDING NEW GALLERY PAGES: | Click for more details
To add a new gallery page click here. To add a new row of images to a gallery page click here.

The image in the template footer is a W3C HTML validation logo. The unedited template pages are all W3C valid. If you want to display this logo you can use the W3C HTML Validator to check your pages after you edit them. You can also turn this logo off in the "footer.js" or edit the link in the "footer.js" and replace the "w3c.gif" in the picts folder with your own image.

The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.
